Endlessly inspired by plants from her garden and the woods behind her Issaquah home, Artist Liz St. Andre brings the outdoors in with her botanical artwork. “My work centers on recreating the experience of being in the forest surrounded by dappled light and tending the garden, soaking in the color and details.”

Liz specializes in printmaking using a modern approach with Gelliplate and an antique photographic process known as Cyanotype. The Gelliplate is a very tactile printmaking process. Liz uses her hands as her printing press. Meticulously building up textured layers of acrylic paint, complex botanical scenes emerge. Cyanotype is a seemingly magical process that relies on sunlight. Liz uses her keen eye to create compositions in varying shades of blue. Every piece is a collaboration filled with surprises from Mother Nature.
