Familiar is how I can feel about my art, it is personal and familiar. It is not too far from reality, and it is common. A repeat memory, a common dream, that I see throughout my life. A recognizable recurrence of places and time, familiar faces, and people. It is what I adore and is comforting. It is how I see my world. The essence of it all, the life, the world, the smiles, and the expression. I invite you to see more around you, and to breath and live in it.
My art is heavily influenced by Impressionism. Subjects are based on real-life scenes, objects, and people. Through my painting, I enjoy injecting an energy and vibrancy to these everyday subjects.
My paintings typically omit the superfluous, and capture just the essentials, arranging them into a more powerful and significant whole. Concentrating on the essentials is where I believe I can be more thoughtful and expressive. As a young child, I was always drawing and recognize that from then to now, art is an essential part of who I am. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree at Metropolitan State University of Denver in 1989 in Communications Multi-Major, with a concentration in visual communication.
