My work is an exploration into our perception of the physical world and how our understanding is shaped by our environment.
Beth uses acrylics and mixed media, combining vibrant color, dramatic lights & darks, and texture to create pieces that balance the representational and abstract. Most pieces contain fascinating paper secrets woven into the brushstrokes. Her goal is to encourage viewers to contemplate and reimagine their own surroundings.
She has a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and a Master of Arts in Whole Systems Design. She has a long history creating kids’ art curriculum and teaching kids and adults. She has also worked with teens in a juvenile detention facility, youth & young adults experiencing homelessness and is currently teaching art to inmates in the jail in Coupeville, WA. Here’s an article about the jail art program.
