Jaqui Beck Some Chickens 3

Jacqui Beck
These paintings are about living and enjoying ourselves and discovering things about ourselves, like how sometimes we like to spend time with others and sometimes we like to spend time alone.
And how sometimes we like to think about the meaning of life and other things, and sometimes we just want to sit in the sun or peck around in the yard.

Marilyn Charlat Dix Common Threads

Marylin Charlat Dix
My art is essentially storytelling. I delve deep into personal narratives, bringing out subtle influences that shape our identities. My aim is to evoke introspection and dialogue, recognizing life’s simplicity and complexity. This exploration of our past and present reveal the universal connections that shape us.

Di Faria RaeDi Faria
I am drawn to several African cultures whose art and symbolism resonate with me. My vision for this show was to combine different aspects of what I liked into a cohesive story. The shields, a mix of glass and metal, are based loosely on the traditional Zulu Warrior Shields. I have added Adinkra Symbols, which originate from Ghana, to each shield because I was drawn to the symbolism both from a historical and philosophical perspective.
My previous masks have all had very colorful glass Kente cloth or batik style background panels. This series is taking a different turn by keeping the background panels muted by using whites and greys with accents in black.

Jayashree Krishnan Visions

Jayashree Krishnan
This body of work features selected birds featured in mythological stories from my culture. They explore the human connection with the natural world and the need to restore a sense of reverence to the wild.
