Columbia City Gallery is South Seattle’s member-run artist collective. We are now accepting applications for membership from artists in all mediums and BIPOC, 3D and artists who live or work in southeast Seattle are highly encouraged to apply.

Benefits of Membership 

  • Gallery affiliation and the opportunity to exhibit work regularly 
  • Dedicated space in the gallery loft to display your artwork for sale year round

  • Inclusion in publicity materials 
  • A once-a-year featured exhibit in conjunction with other members 
  • Participation in the running of a gallery and in the vision of a grassroots arts organization 
  • Information about professional development and artist opportunities 
  • The gallery receives a 30% commission on all members’ work sold. Artists are paid by check the month following the sale 

Membership Requirements

  • Sign a one-year contract, agreeing to full participation
  • Work two or three 4-hour shifts in the gallery each month
  • Attend monthly membership meetings, participate in gallery operations, and rotate various
  • gallery duties for events such as settng up and staffing openings
  • Take on a gallery job and/or community role
  • Provide new work for every exhibit in which you are included
  • Pay monthly dues by the 1st of each month

Monthly dues are as follows: 

  • $75 per month for exhibiting in 50% of the shows
  • $100 per month for exhibiting in 75% of the shows 
  • $125 per month for exhibiting in 100% of the shows

Application Process 

The gallery accepts applications in all media, though we would especially like to encourage Southeast Seattle, BIPOC, and 3-D artists to apply for membership. We review applications and vote on new members at our monthly membership meeting on the second Tuesday of each month. Applications received by the 20th of the month will be reviewed at the following meeting. 

To apply for membership, fill out the online Membership Application. You’ll be asked to submit your art cv/resume, an artist statement, and 5-10 images of your artwork. The Membership Committee will reach out to you with information about the next steps.
