These values below are the ones we share as a collective at Columbia City Gallery. We look for these values in artists, collaborators, and partners of any kind that we engage with.
Community-centered
We are doing this for the community and to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. We are helpful, team players who show up and contribute what we can. We are responsive and thoughtful to others, and we look to the community to see what ways we can serve them through our art.
Passionate
We care – about art and thus about life, and it’s reflected in the excellent quality of our work and how we run the space. We are helpful and have a sense of ownership and understanding that this is our place, and we treat it as such: with respect for the space, and for the expectations set by the collective, which include adhering to deadlines and following through.
Creative
We are artists and creativity is in our blood. We work well under constraints, and find innovative solutions to evolve.
Open to Difference and Novelty
We believe being different and unique is a strength. Being open to diverse, new perspectives and ideas makes our collective richer and more representative of the community we are in. We respect others and handle conflict with thoughtfulness.
Equitable
We understand that it is our role to serve those with fewer opportunities and resources. We are here to share what we have to the greater collective and community so that all can experience art.
